Stephanie Jolluck is the founder of Coleccion Luna. For over the past ten years, she has travelled to Guatemala to work directly with the Mayan people on a line of textiles created from their reclaimed indigenous clothing, using Fair trade practices. She travels four to six times a year to the Guatemalan Highlands Region, working directly with the Indians on their designs. The line of textiles is created from recycled huipiles, cortes, and fajas, wich are the typical names for the traditional and colorful blouses, skirts and belts that are hand woven and hand embroidered. The result are striking handbags, pillows, runners, belts and accessories based on a 2,000 year old Indigenous textile tradition.
Jolluck is inspired by the country she calls her second home. After a decade of working with the same families, they have become her second family, and she has become a godmother to the artisans’ children. To this day, Jolluck supports various non-profit organizations within her artisans communities, and beyond, including CARE , Safe Passage , Off the Mat, Into the World, and 50 Cents.
Flechada shows the world the amazing things Latin America can do.
